Sex During Pregnancy

When women find out they are pregnant, one of the first things they worry about is having sex. Of course the act is still in our mind! We worry about the ability to perform, the new weight added to our frame, and how our partner will react to our new identity. Fortunately, sex during pregnancy is not only encouraged, but for some couples, it has never been better before.

During pregnancy it is very important to keep a strong connection with your partner. It is crucial to let your relationship grow and to experiment with different positions during the nine months. Many women actually find that their hormones increase and they want to have sex all of the time. This is usually due to the increase of blood flow in the vagina. The new sensations add to the sexual arousal and therefore make everything feel more intense.

While some women are always ready to hop in bed, some choose to stay away from sex during the first trimester. This is because morning sickness is quite common and fatigue is a normal symptom. However, after the sickness subsides, most women feel ready to sex once again. Sometimes as the womb expands, women will not feel as comfortable to have sex in certain positions, but for the most part, things should remain the same.

One of the greatest myths out there is that sex will hurt the baby. Luckily this does not happen and there is no need to worry. As your womb gets larger, certain positions will become more difficult, but it is all up to your imagination! Creativity is the most fun part and letting yourselves open up to each other and try new things will bring you closer together. Lying next to one another is a very easy position, while the women-on-top position is also common during this time. Many women feel that the missionary position is uncomfortable but there are many ways around the awkward movements. If you are up for taking it to another level and letting your imagination do the talking, it can becomes a thrilling experience.

Sex during pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Many women say that they wish they had the same sex drive after the pregnancy is long gone. We all worry so much about what our partners will think when we get larger, but some men may even get turned on by the entire situation. It is a new experience for the both of you, and therefore a great way to bond. It is something you will remember for the rest of your life, even if you never have children again. Most importantly, it could spice up your sex life! Routine bed behaviour is common, but a pregnancy can turn things around. After all, who would not want a high sex drive and intense sensations? We now know what men experience everyday!
